DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Department of Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Management and Safety (CETEMS) https://www.rit.edu/engineeringtechnology/departments. in Rochester Institute of Technology’s (RIT) College of Engineering Technology (CET) is currently seeking applications for a full-time Visiting Lecturer and Program Coordinator position in Environmental Sustainability, Health and Safety (ESHS). This is a non-tenure-track position for teaching, recruiting, and ESHS undergraduate program support /coordination. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. This position will be on a full-time basis for a three-year term initially, with the option for a two-year extension. Annual contract renewal during the three year term shall be conditional upon satisfactory annual performance, projected departmental needs and/or college resources, and compliance with RIT policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have the unique and exciting responsibility of working with the department chair and faculty to teach courses for undergraduate and graduate students in Environmental Sustainability Health and Safety (ESHS) and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management at RIT. The ESHS program has approximately 70 students. Responsibilities include course continuous improvement and delivery, program development and recruitment, maintaining a clear professional development agenda, technical capabilities and affiliations, and developing relationships with professional organizations and businesses for the benefit of students and to support the department’s growth.

CETEMS has 13 full-time faculty and more than 20 adjunct faculty. With over 350 students, the department continues to grow, offering two Bachelor of Science programs through its on-campus format, two Master of Science programs taught principally in an on-line format, and a BS/MS program. Each program uses project-based education to prepare students in their field of study and has a required co-operative industrial experience. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

MS required in Environmental Health and Safety Management, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Technology, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated teaching or training experience in academic credit courses and/or non-credit training and holds or can obtain OSHA Education Center Trainer in Construction Safety certification.

    • Approximately five years or more relevant USA professional experience in EHS management and operations. International experience helpful.

    • Earned certifications of the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification, or ten years or more relevant experience with ability to obtain a certification.

    • Ability to develop/maintain relationships with professional organizations and associations as evidenced for example by professional affiliations, association membership activities, association leadership positions, relationships with professional organizations and businesses and similar activities

    • Ability to lead and manage the ESHS program and recruiting by activities for example such as team leadership, supervisory or management positions, project leadership and management, and similar

    • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural and gender diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.

    • Ability to develop and teach both online and in person graduate and undergraduate courses in four or more areas as follows:

      • Mechanical & Electrical Safeguarding
      • Occupational Safety
      • Principles of Environmental Sustainability, Health and Safety
      • Construction Safety
      • Occupational Health
      • Occupational Health Lab (OSHA HAZWOPER 40 hour)
      • Other related courses as knowledge and interest support.
