Description of Work The focus of this position is on professional and career development for graduate students and postdocs; broadening participation in graduate school and professional communication. Designs and coordinates services and programs that support graduate students from entry to degree completion, consults with faculty, staff and administration and employers regarding student’s career development needs. Organizes the professional development workshop programming for both academic and non-academic careers, including wellness initiatives. Assists the Associate Dean in developing content for external audiences including sharing responsibility for the Graduate Connections blog with the Assoc Dir-Teaching & Research Development, The Graduate Report, and the Office of Graduate Studies website. Develops programming for graduate students and postdocs on communication skills including grant writing, digital skills, interpersonal communication skills. Develops programming for graduate students and postdocs on thesis/dissertation and publication writing, as well as writing for non-technical audiences. Organizes communication events including 3 Minute Thesis competitions and Science Slams. Develops programming on grant and fellowship application writing. Implements best practices to recruit and support a diverse cohort of students to enter graduate school. Works with faculty and academic units to organize and implement graduate badging initiatives. Ensure all students and postdocs have the opportunity to find and participate in an inclusive community.

|Minimum Required Qualifications|Master’s degree plus minimum of one year experience in professional development work in a post-secondary setting required. Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate workshops necessary. Demonstrated skills with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software essential. Must have proven ability to interact effectively with diverse populations, including undergraduate and graduate students, staff, postdocs faculty and senior administration. Ability to work independently and as a team member required. Must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
