The Department of Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Management and Safety (CETEMS) Departments | College of Engineering Technology | RIT in Rochester Institute of Technology’s (RIT) College of Engineering Technology (CET) https://www.rit.edu/engineeringtechnology is seeking applications for a full-time Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position. Candidates for this position will be expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, develop and execute an externally funded research program, and publish in appropriate peer reviewed journals and conferences. Responsibilities will include teaching, research and service. Teaching includes course and laboratory development and delivery via classroom, online and blended formats. Research is expected in a well-defined area of focus that enhances and compliments the department’s strategic foci https://www.rit.edu/engineeringtechnology/research and includes securing external funding and dissemination in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Service will include contributions to the operation of the department, college and university, and maintaining a clear professional development agenda that supports the faculty member and department’s growth.

This tenure-track, Assistant Professor Position begins August 15, 2022. A Ph.D. in civil engineering, transportation planning, geomatics, computer science, or a related field is required.

DEPARTMENT/COLLEGE DESCRIPTION:

The Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Management & Safety department has 13 full-time faculty and more than 20 adjunct faculty. With over 350 students, the department continues to grow, offering two Bachelor of Science programs through its on-campus format, two Master of Science programs taught principally in an on-line format, and a BS/MS program. Each program uses project-based education to prepare students in their field of study and has a required co-operative industrial experience. RIT and the department have a strong career focus in their programs and thus have an outstanding record of successfully preparing students for industry. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD required in civil engineering, transportation planning, geomatics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in one or more areas of smart city, transportation planning, geomatics, remote sensing and photogrammetry, infrastructure resilience and disaster emergency management, structural health monitoring and nondestructive testing, machine learning and artificial intelligence, computer vision and image processing, autonomous vehicles, geographical information system, building information modeling, operations research, logistics, or related areas
  • Approximately 5 years practical experience
  • Demonstrated high quality teaching and/or training experience and ability to deliver instruction across a variety of civil engineering technology subject areas at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Demonstrated relevant U.S. research experience or demonstrated ability and interest in conducting research
  • Evidence of scholarly activity in the field of civil engineering technology and related areas
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural and gender diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
