Assistant Professor, Finance and Accounting RIT


The Saunders College of Business invites applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Economics, at the Assistant or Associate level. Responsibilities include teaching PhD-level econometrics courses, graduate/undergraduate economics courses and publishing high-quality scholarly research. Additional responsibilities could include teaching basic finance courses. We offer undergraduate and graduate programs in various business disciplines, and we are in the process of launching a Ph.D. program with focus areas in those disciplines. We seek talented individuals to support these programs.

The typical teaching schedule is four courses per academic year for the first five years on tenure-track, four or five after that depending on research productivity. Faculty must be qualified by AACSB standards at time of hire and must maintain such qualifications on a continuing basis. Qualified candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Economics or a closely-related field. Candidates who are ABD with expected completion by December 2023 may be considered. Candidates will be evaluated using a variety of criteria related to the job including the following:

  • Ph.D. (ABD) in Economics or a closely related field
  • Ability to teach Ph.D.-level econometrics courses
  • Ability to publish high-quality scholarly articles
  • Ability and interest to teach basic finance courses
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences

Expectations relative to these criteria will be commensurately higher for candidates applying for the Associate Professor position.
