Assistant Professor- NTID Department of Performing Arts

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION:

Full-time, 9-month, tenure track or tenured faculty position in theatre. A summer contract may be offered when necessary to meet department needs. Teaching responsibilities may include courses such as introduction to the performing arts, introduction to design, visual gestural communication in theatre, or technical theatre courses. Additional responsibilities include supervising practicum courses, directing or designing for department productions, participating in season planning, and supporting curriculum development. Tenure track faculty are expected to develop a regional or national reputation.
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MFA, EDD, or PhD in theatre or closely related field at time of appointment. Applicants who will finish an EDD or PhD within one year of appointment will be considered.

  • Ability to teach deaf, hard of hearing and hearing students who may utilize a variety of communication and learning modalities.

  • Knowledge of Deaf theatre history and practices.

  • Fluency in ASL.

  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
