Chemistry Lab Instructor (8-month term; renewable)

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh seeks to appoint a full-time Lab
Instructor, for a renewable 8-month contract, outside of the tenure stream, effective September
2018, and pending budgetary approval. Review of applications will begin on 6 November 2017
and will continue until the position is filled.

The successful candidate will maintain and grow recent innovations in the Organic Chemistry
laboratory program, including teaching laboratory sessions associated with Course-based
Undergraduate Research Courses, teaching guided-inquiry laboratories, and/or weekly lab
lectures, all in support of our Organic Laboratory program. In addition, the lab instructor can
expect to contribute to the General Chemistry teaching mission, by leading labs and/or recitation
sections. As a full-time instructor, they will have administrative and committee duties
commensurate with a large teaching laboratory program at a major university and are expected to
have a full-time presence on campus. Applicants should have earned a Master’s or Ph.D. degree
from an accredited university.
