Faculty Consultant for Online Teaching and Learning
Teaching and Learning Innovation (TLI) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) seeks qualified applicants for a position that supports faculty who teach in online and hybrid learning environments. The faculty consultant for online teaching and learning is responsible for creating and delivering innovative and accessible instructional development opportunities that help faculty promote, sustain and evaluate student engagement and success in the virtual classroom. Reporting to the Director of Online Programs, the person in this position is expected to collaborate with colleagues in TLI, as well as others across campus in order to effectively serve the larger teaching and learning community at UTK. The ideal candidate will have a background in instructional design or technology, extensive knowledge of online pedagogies, and at least two years of experience providing direct support to higher education faculty teaching online and hybrid courses.

Expected pay range: $53,000-$55,000 dependent upon experience.

- Master’s degree
- At least two years of experience supporting instructional faculty who teach online and hybrid
- courses at a post-secondary institution
- Demonstrated experience designing and delivering workshops and other training opportunities to faculty who teach in online and hybrid learning environments at a post-secondary institution
- Demonstrated experience designing online instructional support materials and resources for faculty
- Experience using a learning management system to support online instruction and faculty development opportunities
- Experience with online and hybrid course and program design
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Office 365, Outlook)
- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize the needs of various stakeholders
- Doctoral degree
- Three to five years of experience supporting instructional faculty who teach online and hybrid courses at a research heavy post-secondary institution
- Experience teaching online and hybrid courses at a post-secondary institution
- Experience collaborating with colleagues to create, implement or disseminate instructional development resources
- Experience using a range of teaching and learning technologies that support online course delivery and professional practice
- Experience fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or a commitment to promoting inclusion, diversity and equity
- Experience utilizing the learning management system, Canvas, to support online instruction and faculty development opportunities
- Working knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles
