Lecturer & Lab Coordinator in Chemistry (12-month term; renewable)

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh seeks to appoint a full-time
Chemistry Lecturer, for a renewable 12-month contract, outside of the tenure stream, effective
September 2018, and pending budgetary approval. Review of applications will begin on 6
November 2017 and will continue until the position is filled.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach one large enrollment General Chemistry course
in each of the fall and spring terms and to be the Lab Coordinator of all General Chemistry labs
for fall, spring and summer terms. As Lab Coordinator, the candidate oversees all aspects of the
General Chemistry lab, including overseeing weekly lab instructor training, experiment selection
and scheduling, lab manual preparation, among other duties. The successful candidate will be
expected to continue to innovate the labs to improve the learning and the instruction. In addition,
as a full-time lecturer, they will have administrative and committee duties commensurate with a
large chemistry service program at a major university and are expected to have a full-time presence
on campus. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from an accredited
university.
