DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Liberal Studies at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf invites applications for one faculty position at the rank of Lecturer. The position is a 9-month, non-tenure track appointment. Application reviews will begin during Fall 2021.

The new LEAD Lecturer will:

  • Teach and tutor courses in the Community Development and Inclusive Leadership Baccalaureate Degree Program (https://www.rit.edu/ntid/study/community-development-and-inclusive-leadership-bs).

  • Teach courses on topics related to international community development and leadership

  • Support NTID’s Center for International Educational Outreach

    • faculty-led study abroad coordination
    • facilitate program development with international university partners
  • Attend professional development activities

  • Participate in communication development activities

  • Participate in antiracism, diversity and inclusion development activities

  • Participate fully in the department’s curricular initiatives and related faculty duties.

The lecturer is expected to have experience in leading non-profit, non-governmental deaf or hard of hearing focused organizations and a demonstrated ability and interest in contributing to a community committed to student-centeredness; professional development; integrity and ethics; respect, diversity and pluralism; innovation and flexibility; and teamwork and collaboration. The National Technical Institute for the Deaf web page is located at https://ntid.rit.edu and the Department of Liberal Studies web page is located at https://www.rit.edu/ntid/liberalstudies. The department has two degree programs, of which this is one, and the Applied Liberal Arts AS degree. DLS also offers tutoring in English and liberal arts, and is actively engaged in research. REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in any of the following fields: community development, leadership, social justice, African-American or Black studies, Ethnic studies, Deaf studies, Disability studies, Gender studies, LGBTQIA+ studies, organizational development, education, history, communication, political science and law, public health, social work, or relevant field
  • Teaching experience, or training experience in postsecondary settings, communities or organizations
  • Significant experience in international program coordination
  • Significant experience in international community development initiatives and/or leadership
  • Proficient in ASL & International Sign
  • Ability to teach a variety of Deaf, Hard of Hearing and hearing students who may utilize a variety of communication and learning modalities
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences
