NTID/RIT- NTID Engineering Studies Lecturer

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Engineering Studies at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) is seeking to fill a 9-month lecturer (non-tenure-track) faculty position in the engineering field. The successful candidate will:
Provide tutoring support for deaf and hard-of-hearing students enrolled in baccalaureate-level engineering courses;
 Provide direct instruction in engineering to deaf and hard-of-hearing students in associate/pre-baccalaureate-level degree programs where tutor workload and background permits and department need necessitates;
 Participate in existing baccalaureate-level courses to increase tutoring visibility and expand breadth of knowledge where tutor workload and background permits and department need necessitates;
 Already be proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) as determined by the college sign language proficiency rating system and will use ASL to teach and tutor;
 Fulfill other faculty

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Engineering Education related fields;
 Demonstrated teaching experience, particularly with deaf and hard-of-hearing students;
 One year of full-time work experience in the engineering field;
 Proficient in American Sign Language. Knowledge of ASL and deaf culture. A candidate who does not know ASL will be expected to learn ASL and obtain an NTID Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) rating of intermediate plus by the end of the second academic year;
 Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to culture, diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
