The Program Manager will manage a large-scale, multi-institutional National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded project that will launch, evaluate and improve digital and in-person postdoctoral professional development opportunities nationally. This program, called the Postdoc Academy, will create a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for postdocs as well as supplemental activities in support of local postdoc learning communities, with the goal of preparing a diverse community of postdocs to be successful in their careers. In addition, it will build capacity within graduate school and postdoc offices across the country to provide professional development through offering train-the-trainer workshops for faculty and administrators. Though based at Boston University and reporting to the Director of Professional Development and Postdoctoral Affairs, this position will support the activities across all the collaborative institutions involved in this project - Northwestern University, Michigan State University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
- Operations - manage all operational aspects of this project, including team communications, planning and implementing logistics for team, regional, and national meetings, grant management, financial transactions and budget tracking / forecasting, and learning and knowledge management systems. (30%)
- Content development - contribute to the planning and design of virtual modules and supplemental in-person activities. In collaboration with leadership team, co-develop facilitator guide and train-the-trainer materials. (20%)
- Facilitation - facilitate local postdoctoral learning communities in the Boston area and train-the-trainer sessions held at national conferences and regional meetings (20%)
- Communications - partner with communications specialist to implement communications and marketing plan for the project, including journals for publication, website updates, newsletter development and distribution, and social media postings (10%)
- Partnership management - initiate, manage, and track information about relationships with institutions and organizations interested in using our content, or adopting and adapting content in their local context; hosting national meetings. (10%)
- Research management - support the research effort of the project, including data collection, systems and structures, analysis programs, and data and annual reporting. (10%)
PhD in a biomedical discipline or education or learning sciences with a biomedical focus required, postdoc experience preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Needs to be an extremely organized and proactive individual that can work independently to complete multiple tasks across many different work streams and collaborators/teams efficiently. Also needs to be able to work collaboratively with remote teams. Candidates with a demonstrated publication record, involvement in professional development or teaching and learning-related projects, and/or grant-funded research are preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft and Adobe software required, Wordpress and online learning management systems preferred. Experience tracking and forecasting budgets preferred. Experience teaching in either an online or in-person setting preferred.
