The Center for Teaching and Learning seeks applications for a Program Manager of Teaching and Learning Online to consult and collaborate with campus individuals and units in order to ensure quality of instruction in Georgia Tech’s online programs.

The successful candidate for this position will support Georgia Tech faculty and TAs who teach online through consultation and on-going professional development opportunities. With the goal of ensuring that students receive a high-quality online learning experience, this individual will work with campus units to provide instruction that represents evidence-based best practices in online education and to develop both formative and summative feedback tools that instructors and departments can use for continuous improvement. This individual will also monitor the evolving research that pertains to the essential instructor competencies and best practices that support effective online education, thus ensuring that institutional expectations are current, relevant, and aligned with the learning outcomes and the student engagement we desire. While initial efforts of the successful candidate may focus on at-scale courses and programs that are part of the online Master of Science initiatives in Analytics, Computer Science, and Cybersecurity, this individual will also provide professional development for faculty and TAs who teach undergraduates in online and blended courses.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Serve as a liaison between the Center for Teaching and Learning, Georgia Tech Professional Education, and other Georgia Tech stakeholders in order to ensure quality in online teaching and learning.

  • Provide expertise in pedagogy and online learning to advise faculty about the creation of effective learning outcomes, online teaching strategies, learning activities and tasks, and assessment strategies.

  • Collaborate with the faculty member, the academic program representative, and the Professional Education design team during the “kick-off” phase of course development.

  • Consult with faculty and instructional designers to transform course objectives and content into engaging and effective online teaching and learning experiences.

  • Consult with faculty, teaching assistants, and instructional designers on evidence-based pedagogical best practices for using various educational technologies in the online learning environment.

  • Coordinate professional development opportunities for faculty and teaching assistants in online courses that range from offering initial on-boarding to supporting the use of enhanced pedagogical strategies.

  • Collaborate with campus units on the development of both formative and summative assessment tools for online course and teaching effectiveness.

  • Assist and advise on technological solutions aimed at promoting online student satisfaction and success.

  • Monitor current research and make recommendations on educational best practices, instructional resources, and instructional technologies to support online teaching and learning.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Earned doctorate plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in higher education.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidenced-based teaching practices and emerging trends in pedagogy for online teaching and learning.

  • Demonstrated experience in the continuous improvement of the design and delivery of online education.

  • Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills and a talent for working well with faculty and campus units to inform and advance institutional goals for online teaching and learning.

  • Evidence of ability to promote online learning technologies with effective teaching as the guiding principle.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience / skill in using various learning management systems.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of current research on instructional design technologies, theories, resources, applications, strategies, processes, methodologies, procedures, and practices.

  • Evidence of excellent written, oral, digital, and listening skills.

Compensation:

This non-tenure track academic faculty position will be appointed at the rank of academic professional with a salary that is commensurate with degrees earned and prior experience. Georgia Tech offers an outstanding benefits packet that includes 21 vacation days and 12 paid institutional holidays each year along with several group insurance and tax deferred programs.
