Teaching and Learning Specialist at University of Iowa

The position is ideal for a qualified individual who seeks to actively engage in faculty professional development across a range of opportunities that enhance teaching and learning excellence, from one-on-one consultations to participation in long-term institutional initiatives.

The Center works closely with faculty members and administrators in all 11 colleges and the Office of the Provost, as well as with other Regents-approved Centers and IT experts. In addition to consulting about evidence-based teaching practice for course design and delivery, the person in this role also will be responsible for leading several signature teaching and learning programs at Iowa, including TILE, the Course Design Institute, and SoTL.

Center for Teaching staff members at Iowa are part of a highly collaborative team that envisions and invests effort, projects, and initiatives to significantly impact learning excellence. We are looking for applicants who have at least a Master’s degree, preferably a Ph.D., as well as 1-3 years providing support for course development, including creation of print and digital resources. In addition, applicants must have experience teaching college-level courses (in classroom), with a minimum of two semesters as the instructor of record. Demonstrated project creation and management skills and high-level communications skills also are required.
