DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION:

This is a temporary visiting position.

Provide direct instruction in American Sign Language and serve as a faculty tutor for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a range of undergraduate biology and health science courses with a particular emphasis on the preparation and implementation of curricular materials to train deaf and hard-of-hearing students to become pharmacy technicians.

Develop and undertake a successful research agenda that leads to presentation and peer-reviewed publication. Involvement of deaf and hard-of-hearing students in research activities will be strongly encouraged.

Undertake a professional development agenda in communication and diversity that demonstrates ongoing growth in the use of American Sign Language and other forms of communication as well as a commitment to understanding, respecting, and promoting issues related to diversity and inclusion.

Provide service to the department and college as assigned.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned Doctor of Pharmacy or a related field.
  • Prior teaching and/or tutoring experience with deaf and hard-of-hearing students at the university level.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform research and to develop publications for peer review.
  • Current fluency in American Sign Language.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and to the advancement of deaf and hard-of-hearing persons through scholarship, teaching, tutoring, and/or service.
